Week one of Katorse was surprisingly decent. I even prefer its pilot to the cliched introduction of Dahil May Isang Ikaw. I didn't like yesterday's episode though because it focused on Albert and Marissa which sadly highlighted their weak acting. Thankfully, the situation of Nene and Gabby's relationship saved the episode. Despite the neophyte younger cast, they generally delivered in their respective roles. Erich Gonzales pulls off the young and naive Nene really well while Ejay Falcon's acting is reminiscent of Robin Padilla. He does need to tone down the shouting when delivering his lines. So far, my favorite character among the adults is Nena as portrayed by Malou de Guzman. She has great chemistry with Erich that their scenes are always good be it comedic or dramatic. She also has the most amusing lines which is nice because the show is about teen pregnancy and humor will be a welcome breather.
In today's episode, Nene and her mother discover that Nenita has stopped going to school which led to their mother going to the hospital. Nenita finds out that Nene is pregnant. Okay, I didn't expect Nene's reaction to her pregnancy. Her childish glee was really creepy. But in the end, her mother and Gabby's reactions brought home the reality of the situation. It looks like the real drama starts next week. Here's hoping the story stays solid and not deteriorate like Tayong Dalawa.
