Legend of the Seeker 07

Identity
A powerful sorceress switches the identity of the Seeker with a merchant's son to prevent his death gleaned through a vision.

Demmin Nass with a box of Orden.

In this episode, Richard, Kahlan, and Zedd finally pursue the information they received from the D'Haran in 'Listener' (episode 5). A merchant near Kelabra who has dealings with the D'Harans assists them in their mission to have Kahlan touch Rahl's trusted aide. The merchant is a part of an underground resistance that Kahlan is likely privy to. I would really like an explanation on the political situation in the Midlands right about now. Additionally, characters from the book are introduced namely Shota, Demmin Nass, and Samuel (his name isn't mentioned within the episode). I'm relieved they used an actor for Samuel instead of CGI. He looks creepy and acts cowardly enough so he's fine with me. This episode has the most elements from Wizard's First Rule and finally introduces the novel's major plot.

Likes:

  • The wedding
When Bronwyn and fake Gryff were cuffed to each other, I had a good long laugh.
  • Campfire scene with Kahlan and fake Richard.
Kahlan was definitely flirting and Gryff has a silver tongue, the little upstart. And thank the good spirits Kahlan came to her senses before blasphemy happened!
  • Kahlan tells fake Richard why they can never be.
She finally reveals her secret, the one Zedd keeps nagging her about. It's a very nice scene and now the audience knows while the real Richard is clueless. Bridget Regan is still my favorite among the trio. The other two haven't shown anything that overly impressed me.
  • Demmin Nass and Shota
Nass, Rahl's right hand man, is menacing just by looking at him and becomes even more so when he fights. I like his scar too. As for Shota, she was moved like a seductress in her last scene. I love the way she said 'Hmmm'. I'm very curious about Zedd's encounter with her when he was young.
  • Explosions at Kelabra
I think I saw a person fly way up in the sky as things exploded.
  • Fight at Nass' tent
It was a very frenzied fight in that tent. Nass and Richard were giving it their all to kill each other.
  • Boxes of Orden are introduced
    The race is on!

Dislikes:

  • Major dislike was Bronwyn saying 'god' in frustration. They could have picked another term. Maybe 'spirits' since it's already been used in the show. Maybe, "Damn the spirits!" or better yet, curse her brother since the marriage was his idea. I thought they were avoiding using the term 'Creator' but they used 'god' like the way it's used today. Zedd said "what in prophecy's good name" in the previous episode where 'Creator' could easily have taken the place of 'prophecy'.
  • No preview for episode 8!

The rest of December until early January are reruns: the two-hour pilot, episode 5, and episode 7. Hmmm, it looks like the episodes chosen lead directly to Orden. Other episodes with titles but no air date include "Puppeteer", "Sacrifice", and "Confession". "Denna" debuts on January 10, 2009. I've already seen pictures of Jessica Marais as Denna (also a detailed summary of the rough cut of the episode) but I'll wait until the official site releases a high quality picture because I'm sure they'll release one before the air date since it's a highly anticipated character.
