So my Compaq CRT monitor died last week. There were signs that this would happen. In the past few months, I noticed a sound like an electric spark every time I would turn the monitor off/on. Well, it finally happened last Saturday night but there was no sound to accompany the event. The monitor just wouldn't turn on. At first I searched for another CRT monitor to replace it which is really scarce nowadays at the usual stores. I found some but they were much heavier than my 15in CRT. I debated for a while on getting the CRT anyway since it's much cheaper than an LCD but then I saw a good price for an LCD monitor with good specs. I worried about the widescreen aspect of the new monitor

but it's actually not an issue once I got it up and working. Now I'm thinking of dissecting the CRT monitor. I've seen a CRT before from a TV but I'm really itching to open it anyway. So far I'm fighting the urge since I don't really have space to open it. Come to think of it, I still have a VCR, laptop, a nd PC waiting to be dissectedso I'm not sure I'll get to the monitor anytime soon.
