Testosterone is one of the anabolic hormones responsible for production of body tissues like bone and muscle. It has other functions, e.g., promotes healthy libido, but I'm focusing on weight management. The greater your lean body mass (everything in the body besides fat) in comparison to fat mass, the faster your metabolism which helps you stay slim. Maintaining your muscle mass requires more energy unlike fat which just takes up space. Since I only have trace amounts of testosterone compared to a man, I've looked into naturally increasing my levels to maintain my lean body mass. Unsurprisingly, I didn't uncover any earth-shattering secret - strength training and eating right
(protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins & minerals) help elevate testosterone production. Supplementation is another option like taking DHEA, zinc, and some unheard of herbs
. Basically it's all I've been doing minus the supplementation. So sticking to compound exercises like squats and stiff-legged deadlifts which stimulate large muscles, interval training (helps boost testosterone too), and taking whey protein will help transform my body into a lean, mean, fat burning machine.
